| The LiveCD version of QUMA is useful because it enable user to launch QUMA server
easily (without installing and setting up, only boot PC from CD) and securely (no data
remained in a hard disk drive of the PC) in a laboratory. The LiveCD QUMA is based on KNOPPIX,
one of the best known LiveCD Linux, and bootable from not all but many PC (includes IntelMac).
When boot a PC from the CD, QUMA server will automatically launch and the URL of QUMA server will be indicated at the display,
it is accessible from other PC connected to the laboratory LAN (but not accessible from out side of the LAN).

| QUMA program source code enables user to launch QUMA server at an institutional level.
QUMA is written in Perl and can be installed locally. We tested that QUMA can work
at many Linux distributions, Mac OS X and Windows 2000/XP (with cygwin), and will probably
work at any UNIX-like OS. Installation and setting up of QUMA is not difficult but
skill to set up a UNIX/Linux web server is required. Installation to Windows or Mac OS X
is more difficult than general Linux distributions, because some additional installations
are required to setting up the prerequisites. |
